Spring Lake Tahoe Snowstorm

Snow on the Subaru
Last night a spring snowstorm lashed out at the Tahoe Basin and blanketed the upper elevations of the Sierra mountains with a fresh coat of snow 20-30 inches deep. Down at Lake level we even got a foot! I saw this thing coming and we were prepared for this storm. We were early to rise and shine and wasted no time heading up to Sierra at Tahoe. We were early enough for eighth chair which meant I was the first one down a run called Eastabout. I had fresh untracked powder from top to bottom, it was awesome!

Sierra Today

Sierra at Tahoe
It was another wonderful spring day on the mountain today. Not quite as hot up there as yesterday so the snow never really softened up in the shadows of the trees, but it was fun none-the-less, especially on the sides of the groomers where there was like a 2" layer of sweet peel off corn snow. We have a little snow possible tonight, in fact it's coming down as graupel right now. Although the snow is disappearing from around town, the snow base is holding up very well with 102" being reported, no brown spots on the hill at all.

This evening we were driving US 395 in California out of San Bernadino when I captured a photo of the moon rising over the Mojave Desert at Sunset.

Halloween Phish 8 Festival

Happy Halloween everybody!!! It's day two of the 3-day Phish 8 festival in Indio, California and it's gonna be a party. Everyone is speculating about which album Phish is going to cover for Halloween tonight. My friends Jake and Heather have been telling me "the horns are hired" and that means the Rolling Stones, guess we will see.

Phish fans dressed up as Ghost Busters.

This moving sculpture was among the interesting pieces of art in the festival grounds.

Reagan Beach Park South Lake Tahoe, CA

We just drove over 2000 miles from Nashville, TN and we are now home in Lake Tahoe, but not to stay, just for a day or two. We are picking up Dwight, looks like he's going to Phish 8 with us.

We went down to Reagan Beach Park just off of Lake View Ave. in South Lake Tahoe, CA and caught the park in it's autumn splendor. The fall colors looking great on a lovely fall day.

Reagan Beach features something for all ages including a nice lakeside playground for the kids, volleyball and a wedding ceremony area for adults.
