Saratoga Monument, NY

Towering above the trees, Saratoga Monument in the Saratoga National Historical Park is a 155' granite oblisk overlooking the Mohawk Valley. It commorates a pivotal American victory over the British in the Revolutionary War, Battle of Saratoga on Oct. 17th, 1777.

The Saratoga Monument oblisk stands 155' tall and is 40 ' square at the base, tapering to 10' square at the top.

In 1877 on the centenial of the crucial victory over British troops in the Battle of Saratoga, local citizens were inspired to erect the oblisk.
