Equinox Mountain Scenic Drive

We are driving historic highway 7a South through Vermont and discovered Skyline Drive up to the top of Equinox Mountain. It's a 5.2 mile trip up a steep winding mountain road with plenty of hairpin turns. At 3858 feet above sea level it's the highest mountain in the Taconic Range and affords breathtaking views of The Green Mountains, Adirondacks, Berkshires & White Mountain Ranges.

Today the building at the top stands vacant.

I'm no expert, but these look like coveted Chantrelle Mushrooms to me.

The road down is extremely steep for a long way.

We stopped at this scenic overlook to let our brakes cool down for a while. They were smokin' hot!
